Power to the People FAQ - Part 2
-
PTP and
GTG (Grease the Groove):
I want to do Power to the People for
2 weeks, then the Russian Kettlebell Challenge for 2 weeks. Is that
what is suggested? Can I do PTP and GTG pullups. Or should I GTG
during RKC?
-
Better
for fat loss: Bear or PTP?:
I have a friend who wants to lose
quite a bit of fat, but build, or at least, not lose, muscle while
doing it. I'm going to recommend 2 week cycles of kettlebells, mainly
snatches and swings, and 2 weeks of weights. But should he do 5X week
Power to the People or 2-3X week Bear (mass building)?
-
Cycling
PTP between strength workouts and bear workouts:
I want to mix
up strength cycles with Bear cycles. What is the best way to do this?
My thinking right now is 4 strength cycles lasting a total of about 8
weeks and then 2 Bear cycles lasting approximately 4 weeks. and then
back to strength. I'm just beginning with the PTP program and I want
to have a solid foundation to work with before I begin to work for any
size at all.
-
How many
PTP cycles to SEE results?:
I'm halfway through my second full
PTP cycle -- doing health lifts, bench presses, and curls -- and
around this time I'm wondering how many cycles I might expect it to
take before I see some results on my twig-like body? I'm sure my
end-cycle poundages will go up by the time this cycle is over, but I'm
talking about visual results of some kind.
-
PTP and
"The Ladder":
Which is better for improving my One Rep Max...
Power to the People or "The Ladder"?
-
Has PTP
expanded to the elite athlete of sports?:
Pavel, Have you
tried to expand your theories to the elite athletes of the world? By
this, I mean the PRO ranks, Major League Baseball, the National
Football League, National Basketball Association and the National
Hockey League. If you have tried, any favorable responses from them?
-
PTP :
Adding 1 Arm Dead Lift (Long):
I was thinking of adding an
exercise specifically targeted at the abs and 1-arm deadlifts have
been suggested, doing 1x5 for each arm. Is this a good idea?
-
PTP-Number of
Movements:
Would it be okay to work three movements on the PTP
routine? I was thinking deadlift, press, chin. Also, to save time,
could these be worked in a cycle? I was thinking deadlift-rest 1
minute-press-rest 1 minute-chin-rest 2 minutes-repeat at 90%.
-
PTP slow
reps vs athletic speed:
Isn't lifting slow like PTP going to
adversely affect my speed for martial arts? I'd always heard slow reps
killed your quickness.
-
PTP and
women?:
My girlfriend is on a strict weight loss diet. I
advised her that she might want to add in some weigh training to help
increase her metabolism even more. Could she possibly get good results
with the basic Power to the People routine (2 x 5 deadlifts and side
press 5 days per week) or should she be doing a high rep and low
weight style of lifting?
